Fortin<\/span><\/span> Skye Consort was formed in 1999 and since then has toured and participated in chamber music festivals across eastern Canada. The group&#8217;s original goal was to bring an art-music aesthetic to the folk genre, but for this project the pendulum has swung the other way, and the musicians give art music and some old folk music a fully modern treatment. Skye Consort plays this collection of songs and dances without regard for historical or musicological constraints,instead bringing the music to life for modern ears. These are festive songs played festively, love songs played romantically, and drinking songs played drunkenly.\n<\/p>\n<p><br clear=\"left\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"floatleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"border\" src=\"\/images\/skye_consort_sean.jpg\" width=\"100\" height=\"135\" alt=\"Se\u00e1n Dagher\" title=\"Se\u00e1n Dagher\" \/><br \/><span class=\"credit\">photo: H. Fortin<\/span><\/span> <strong>Se\u00e1n Dagher<\/strong> regularly performs Celtic folk music in Qu\u00e9bec and Ontario and has played as far afield as Ireland and Switzerland. He has played medieval music with La Compagnie Machaut and Mandragore.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<span class=\"floatright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"border\" src=\"\/images\/skye_consort_alex.jpg\" width=\"100\" height=\"135\" alt=\"Alex Kehler\" title=\"Alex Kehler\" \/><br \/><span class=\"credit\">photo: H. Fortin<\/span><\/span><strong>Alex Kehler<\/strong> mainly plays Celtic, klezmer, and baroque violin but is able to play any style with equal deftness and musicality. For over a decade he has been one of Montr\u00e9al&#8217;s most sought-after violinists.\n<\/p>\n<p><br clear=\"left\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\n<span class=\"floatleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"border\" src=\"\/images\/skye_consort_amanda.jpg\" width=\"100\" height=\"135\" alt=\"Amanda Keesmaat\" title=\"Amanda Keesmaat\" \/><br \/><span class=\"credit\">photo: H. Fortin<\/span><\/span> <strong>Amanda Keesmaat<\/strong> plays continuo in numerous baroque ensembles in Montr\u00e9al. She is a founding member of Les Voix Baroques and has toured Canada.\n<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"floatright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"border\" src=\"\/images\/skye_consort_andrew.jpg\" width=\"100\" height=\"135\" alt=\"Andrew Horton\" title=\"Andrew Horton\" \/><br \/><span class=\"credit\">photo: H. Fortin<\/span><\/span> <strong>Andrew Horton<\/strong> divides his time between playing bass in modern and baroque orchestras and chamber ensembles and singing and playing guitar in bluegrass bands, most notably The Andrew Horton Band.\n<\/p>\n<p><br clear=\"all\" \/><\/p>\n<div style=\"min-height: 175px;\">\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<br clear=\"all\" \/>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>photo: H.
