\n\tMYSO (OSJM)<\/strong>
\n\tThe Montreal Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO) was founded by Sandra Wilson in 1976. The MYSO brings together sixty members between the ages of 13 and 25 on a yearly basis. So far, more than 800 young musicians have acquired high-quality training, allowing them to move on to professional orchestras in Quebec, Canada, the United States and Europe. Every year, the orchestra plays ten or more concerts in its subsciption series or at the request of corporate and cultural sponsors.\n<\/p>\n

photo: Yves Lacombe<\/span><\/span> The MYSO repertoire spans works from Mozart to Mahler, Debussy to Shostakovich. The orchestra has also had the privilege of sharing the stage with several soloists, singers and composers from Quebec and abroad.\n<\/p>\n

The MYSO has toured in Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, Scotland, Greece and in France. The Orchestra boasts several recordings including Camille Saint-Sa\u00ebns’s Symphony # 3 with organ, and excerpts from Swan Lake and Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky, for a collection of illustrated musical stories released on the XXI Records label.\n<\/p>\n

\nEnsemble vocal Polymnie<\/strong>
\nFounded in 1977, the Ensemble vocal Polymnie groups ninety members under the direction of Louis Lavigeur since September 2002. The choir is specialized in the interpretation of sacred and secular works by a great variety of composers. Thanks to the financial generosity of its supporters, the Ensemble vocal Polymnie is able to offer pleasurable musical experiences to its loyal audiences within the greater Montreal and South shore areas. Recognized as a semi-professional choir, the Ensemble vocal Polymnie is regularly called upon to cooperate with the Orchestra symphonique de Longueuil.\n<\/p>\n

\nThis CD is the result of a first and very happy collaboration with the Montreal Youth Symphony Orchestra.\n<\/p>\n

\nLouis Lavigeur – Artistic Director<\/strong>
\nLouis Lavigeur is artistic director and conductor of the Montreal Youth Symphony Orchestra since 1986. Prize winner at the Besan\u00e7on International Competition for Young Conductors, Louis Lavigeur is presently associate-conductor of the Conservatiore de musique de Montr\u00e9al Orchestra, conductor of the Pierre-laporte High School Music Program, artistic director and conductor of the Orchestre des concerts symphoniques de Gatineau, founder-director of l’Ensemble Sinfonia de Montr\u00e9al. He also served as conductor in residence for the McGill University Orchestra.\n<\/p>\n

\nLouis Lavigeur is one of the few conductors who is equally at ease with both choirs and orchestras. He conducts the Conservatoire de musicque de Montr\u00e9al Chorus, as well as the five choirs of the Pierre-Laporte High School Music Program. In 2001, he was appointed artistic director of the Polymnie Vocal Ensemble de Longueuil and in 2003 of the Choeur polyphonique de Montr\u00e9al.\n<\/p>\n

\nA respected and distinguished educator, Louis Lavigeur has taught at Laval, McGill and de Montr\u00e9al Universities and at the Conservatoire de musique de Montr\u00e9al where he still teaches conducting. As a guest conductor, he has performed with several orchestras in Canada, France, Switzerland and the Czech Republic. He has frequently recorded for CBC Radio and Television and has made several recordings with the Orchestre M\u00e9tropolitain and MYSO with which he has toured France and Greece.\n<\/p>\n
